Today Micah, Nate and I tore down the old garage. Jody had us save a lot of the old wood and knick knacks we found inside. We have pictures before, during and after the tear down.

I picked up the sign today and built a chain to connect the two parts. Nate put a final coat of pain on the post, and then we hung the sign.
Also, the new phone lines were put in, and the phones were installed to all the offices.
We scrubbed the walls and ceiling and vacuumed the floors. We did general cleaning of the front parlor, entry way and porch.
Jody had new furniture delivered and we have been rearranging the front parlor.

Today I meet with signa-rama to give them a copy of the sign in actual size. I want them to prepare the vinyl lettering ahead of time to ensure a speedy turn around time for the new sign.

We recived a preliminary survey, the actual survey will be done in two weeks and registered through the city. The actual property line is 121.15 East West and 105 North South.

WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 22, 2004:

This Morning Tim and I went to Vancouver to meet with quest phone services. They ran the wire from the lines, to the house. The house is now ready for our phone lines. Monday I will meet the company that is going to run our personal phone lines.

Our architect was also there with an engineer. We hope to get the ball running on the engineer plans of the foundation so when we are ready to lift the house we have all the paper work completed.

Our architect delivered a portfolio with information about zoning, permits, and some ruff quotes. This information will be delivered to Jody then I will keep it in our records. Our real estate agent contacted me with an environmental inspector. He will inspect the property for lead, asbestos, radon, oil lines and all other environmental concerns. He will be faxing us over a standard agreement, which I will hand to Jody.
Sue Middelton gave us the final ink drawing today, which I will also share with Jody.

Tuesday September 14, 2004:

Today, we met another contractor. We walked through the house and looked at the foundation. He suggested the possibility of fixing the old foundation but upon further review decided a new foundation was in order. The new contractor seems to be very educated in classic house restoration and is very interested in the project. He is willing to help as little or as much as we need. He is going to give some rough numbers this afternoon or tomorrow morning. He is also going to give us some numbers for heating and new wiring. He knows a lot of knowledgeable people that will be able to help us along with our project. This contractor thinks the foundation project should take four to six weeks. He prefers to work in the spring but says it is possible to do it this fall.

We have an artist working on an ink drawing of the house for the yellow pages. She emailed us this copy of the drawing and said she would bring over a hard copy on Thursday morning.

MONDAY SEPTEMBER 13, 2004:

Today I met with our architect and a contractor. Our architect and I walked through the entire property and provided a detailed and accurate scale drawing of the house. He gave me a scale drawing of the outside of the house and yard, with some new parking plans.
Lifting the house and building a new foundation is possible and feasible. We are looking at about sixty days of total time to lift the house, build the forms, pour the new foundation and lower the house. We have suggested raising the level of the foundation to increase the clearance in the basement and raise the overall height of the house. We have all decided it is best to install new heating, electrical and plumbing.

Friday September 3, 2004

Today I meet with an attorney friend of Jody and our architect.
Before our trip to Vancouver we discussed possible problems. Jody's friend was concerned that the galvanized pipes could pose a possible problem with the heating. Our architect was concerned with drainage problems of the bell-cast mansard roof, he was also concerned with the down spouts and gutters. My main concern was dry rot and foundation problems.
On our initial walk through we saw many problems, but no real surprises. Jody let me know the condition of the house before the visit. I will list some of the problems and concerns:
MAIN HOUSE
• New electricity
• New heat (possibly)
• New foundation
• Asbestos floor tiling and flooring
• Asbestos pipe insulation
• New plastering (upstairs)
• Fix cracks in plastering (downstairs and hallway)
• Wood sash and upstairs door (rebuild or refinished) Hillsdale sash and door
Back House
• Water damage on roof
• Rot on roof
• Post and beam sinking
• Plaster damage water damage inside
I gave both Jody's friend and our architect a bottle of wine, compliments of Jody for there help and time.
