Thursday October 21, 2004:

The arborist stopped by today and took a look at the job. He is going to come next week to clean up the trees and bushes. I also spoke with the city arborist and he gave the “ok” for us to do the clean up.

I spoke with City of Vancouver Construction and met up with a guy who refinished the west barracks.

I also went to the St. James Church and they recommended some good roofers and a sheet metal company.

Wednesday October 13, 2004

I spoke with our architect and we are waiting on the engineering drawings to get numbers for the foundation.

The painters should have us a bid for the painting of the house soon.

I have been talking to different reps from Unico Heating Systems to try and decide what we will do for the heating and cooling system.

I also have been researching the house. We are making a portfolio of past owners and the original builder of the brown house.

I spoke with an arborist, he will be coming this week to take a look at the property and tell us what it will take to clean up the grounds. We hope to get the trees pruned and the vegetation under control late this week.
We are starting the asbestos abetment on Monday the 18th. As soon as the asbestos is removed we will take off the back porch of the house.

SGR&K now occupy the parlor, conference room, administrative office, and attorney office at the Brown house. Mr. Gregg is still practicing out of another office in the house. Debbie, Teresa, Mr. Gregg and myself were all at the office today. It is our first official day in the Vancouver office.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 8, 2004

Today we had the welcoming party for the Vancouver office. We had a champagne toast and tours of the building. All of the employees from the Portland office joined us in the celebration of the new office. It was a great time, with appetizers and champagne or lemonade. The party, which was scheduled from two to four hours, didn’t end until after 6:00 p.m. I think it was a success and everyone really liked the new office.

TUESDAY OCTOBER 5, 2004

Nate, Micah, and I cleaned more of the yard and we emptied all of the things out of the first floor of the back house. Everything is separated into two main rooms. One room is Mr. Gregg’s stuff and one room is our stuff.

Our neighbors, Ted and Sallie Reavey, and Mike and Doris Hale invited us over to welcome us to the neighborhood. They both have old Victorian homes as well. It was very nice of them to have us all over for an evening drink.

FRIDAY OCTOBER 1, 2004

The Internet Company came today and with Michael's help we now have phones and wireless Internet throughout the house. We had a meeting today with Jody, Teresa, one of our contractors, our architect, our structural engineer and myself. We discussed a plan of attack on the project.
We want a basement with a usable side entrance. We want the entrances hidden and so not to destroy the integrity of the building. We want the basement to have 9 to 10 feet walls. After the new foundation is built we want to start on the painting, flashing and roofing.
